Weekend Recap
Since we didn’t go home for Thanksgiving or really do anything at all, I can safely say that this weeked week was consumed with two words: Big Love. I think we watched about 3.5 seasons of it, equaling out to oh about 40 hours. OF WATCHING TV. OVER 5 DAYS. It is just that good people. Just that good.
With thoughts of polygamy and compounds and prairie dresses dancing around in my head, I...
Recipes by Irma: Carrot Drop Cookies
Since I am in this vintage Joy of Cooking phase, I try to pick out recipes that are unique and different and things I have never eaten/recipes lost through the years in American cooking. Like carrot drop cookies. I mean, we’ve all had carrot cake and even carrot bread, so how come I’ve never heard of carrot cookies? It is a mystery.
The whole process took about 20 minutes! Not sure...
Velvet Girls
In sixth grade, I owned and wore a hot pink velvet baby doll dress and I think I probably liked it. Looking back though, this was probably not the best choice for my chunky pre-teen body and I vowed to never wear velvet again. Lord, I wish I had my baptism photos to share with you!
That is until about 3 days ago. Do you guys know how much velvet is in the thrift stores these days? You guys. It is...

Recipes by Irma: Coffee Pie
Ok, so you know how Jell-o makes the instant pie fillings you can just pop into a pie crust to make a delicious custard pie? Yeah, this is because custard is impossible to make from scratch. It starts off all fun and games and then, basically, doesn’t set.
Yep, you guessed it, I decided to make the Coffee Pie recipe from “The Joy” yesterday.
This was as far as I got. The...

Just Call Me "Struggles with Photos"
If there is one aspect of my shop that I struggle with the most, it is PHOTOS! Now that it is getting dark earlier, combined with the fact that I have a full time job, taking photos of my pretty clothes has become even harder than ever.
Last night, I worked on photographing some items for about an hour and a half and 1 out of 10 photos resulted in one of these disasters:
Too light…

Book Club
Being somewhat of a nerd, dating a specific dress or blouse to a decade just isn’t good enough. I want to know more about it! What part of the decade, what was fashionable alongside it, and more about cultural contexts are all things I think about. Because of this, the “Fashionable Clothing from the Sears Catalogs” books have been given a permanent home on my bedside table...
